Technology use is a form of literacy that is becoming essential for success in

the workplace and in the world (President’s Committee of Advisors on Science
and Technology, 1997). Those who have mastered its use will have a lifelong
advantage over those who have not. The study contributes updated, specific
information about the computer competence of early childhood teachers,
including teacher attitudes, skills, classroom practices, and the interrelationship
among them. The results raise research questions that call for more
targeted studies of teacher technology competence. The recommendations
related to training design are supported by other studies and reinforce the
immediate need to improve technology training for early childhood teachers.
